For centuries, Africans were taught to look outside themselves for power. They were told that God was distant, separate, and unreachable. But before colonization, African spirituality embraced a different truth.

God was not in the sky, sitting on a throne. God was within. The mind, the spirit, the self—this was divine. Power was not given by an external force. It was already inside.

Religions that arrived with colonization changed this perspective. They taught Africans to see themselves as weak, sinful, and dependent. They introduced fear—of hell, of punishment, of questioning. They made people doubt their own strength.

But what if the truth is different? What if God is not something to worship but something to realize? What if your thoughts create your reality? What if belief in yourself is the ultimate faith?

Many African traditions understood this long before outside influences arrived. They saw life as energy, as creation. They believed that thoughts shape existence. That imagination is power. That what you believe, you become.

It’s not about rejecting faith but expanding it. It’s about knowing that the divine isn’t somewhere far away—it’s within. This is not arrogance. It’s liberation.

To believe in yourself is to reclaim the power that was taken. To trust your mind, your vision, your ability to create. To know that you are not a servant of some unseen force but a manifestation of life itself.

So, who are you? A follower, or a creator? A believer in limitations, or a force of endless potential?

The answer is already within you.
